The SSCC has been established in early summer 2020 by creating positions within both institutions (EPFL and ETHZ). Since its introduction, the SSCC has been involved in various activities with governmental bodies, such as the external pageNational Cyber Security Center (NCSC, German: BACS), the external pageSwiss Security Network (SSN) and the external pageCyber Defence Campus (CYD), critical infrastructure providers, and industrial partners.

Whereas the SSCC involved initially only the two federal institutes of technology (ETH Zurich and external pageEPFL Lausanne) it has been decided in accordance with the NCSC to expand the SSCC to other research and higher education institutions. The intention is to provide a common interface to Swiss research and higher institutions that work on information security related topics. How this new structure of the SSCC will look like is under current elaboration, first contacts with potential partner institution are taking place.

Also in 2024 the SSCC plans to organize online workshops on a cyber security related topic.
